TN: 2011 Calera Pinot Noir de Villiers Vineyard

  • 2011 Calera Pinot Noir de Villiers Vineyard - USA, California, Central Coast, Mount Harlan (9/19/2020)
Wow, what a wine. I first fell in love with Calera in 2012 when I had the 2008 Reed Vineyard. At the time it blew my mind in terms of California Pinot Noir. It was deep and rich but spoke to its place like no wine I had drank before. This wine is no different, still painfully young and full on the nose of ripe red Washington cherries and dried apple skin. It’s very rich in the mouth with crab apple and some astringent cherries on a long and puckering finish. It’s so good. This wine has at least 10 years to go to fully show its potential. Damn, its my only bottle left.
