Utah wine questions

Leaving for Park City in a few weeks. Questions:

  1. Is there any way to ship wine to Utah?
  2. is BYOB allowed in restaurants ?
  3. Are the State liquor stores decent?

Thank you!

Mike, I’ll be PM’ing you.

Thank you Katherine!

Byob is allowed almost everywhere, is usually cheap, and there are a couple good stores. The best by far is downtown: Salt Lake – Store 35
255 South 300 East
Salt Lake City UT 84111
Phone: (801) 533-6444
Email: store35@utah.gov

FWIW, some Utah beers can be surprisingly good.

My opinion of Park City wine shopping is that its pretty grim. Poor selection and high prices. Take your own if traveling there. Buy a bottle at the official store and decant your stuff into it, reseal, and just BYOB. As I recall, if a wine has the sticker that it was sold in a Utah store, it can be BYOB’d for free/nominal charge.

Shipping to Utah is a challenge., Wine Check on airplane works every time as well packing cases in your car. BYOB is plentiful in Utah. AFWE selections at the state store are slim.

Thanks to all. You’ve provided me with some good ideas to address this challenge!

Don’t worry, it really is not a challenge.

Park City to downtown SLC is 20-25 minutes.

Store 35 is good. Anyone who says it is a bad store, I’d like to know where they shop. (NB: you won’t find aged wines there.)

Corkage almost universal at $12-15/bottle.

I’m assuming you are visiting. If you are living there for a longer period, yea, probably more of a challenge!
