A titanic set of 3 fires has broken out on Spring Mountain. One behind Brasswood/CIA, one near Fantesca, one near the top near Pride. This is already worse than the Glass Fire. This is gargantuan and could threaten St Helena.

Sounds suspicious. I hope none of these fires were intentionally set.

It is going to be a rough sleepless night for many of our friends.

These are apparently threatening Sonoma County, including Santa Rosa, as well.

Wow, the fire is jumped Silverado Trail and is moving west towards 29. It's pretty much burning through the valley floor. This is going to be devastating.

SunHawk area of East Santa Rosa. Flames cresting the ridge. Hwy 12 traffic is stalled westbound they may need to open Eastbound lanes to ease the congestion. Strike teams assembling in SkyHawk and also staging at Calistoga Rd Safeway. Oakmont is under mandatory evacuation orders.

Stay safe Roy. Is this the same area that burnt before? It looks like Google Maps satellite shows old roads of a subdivision that is no more or hasn't been built?

The smoke is chokingly thick as I get up this morning and I’m 15-20 miles from the flames. Praying for Roy and Jen all the people I know who live on the East side. Also Deer Park, St Helena and beyond. What a horrible night it has been.

Stay safe everyone who is near the areas of these fires. This is unbelievable.

I was having a case of the Monday's and jumped on here to surf while having some coffee and avoiding work. This REALLY puts my "bad day" in perspective.

Words can't describe how devastating this is. My avatar photo was taken at Duckhorn, I'd imagine the same shot looks like the apocalypse right now.

Wow - waking up this morning north of Boston (EST) I saw what happened last evening and overnight.
People like Roy who were wishing me well are now in danger. Of course my vineyard and home are in danger, but I am safe. Waiting for word from my houseskeeper for more details.

As I read about the fire/evacuation areas, it appears that much of Napa/Sonoma are in danger. Just unbelievable.

In Santa Rosa all areas East of Summerfield Rd are under Mandatory Evacuation Orders.

Just saw news coverage of fire along Channel Drive which butts up against Annadel State Park which is the last open space buffer between the flames and the Hoen/Yulupa/Montgomery Village/Bennet Valley area of Santa Rosa.

You got it right, Casey. I am at the beach with a nice glass of Champagne in hand. Have not heard from my housekeeper yet. The electicity went off this morning around 4-5:00, so I packed by candlelight. Are we having fun yet? champagne.gif
Glad you’re safe Merrill. Hope the cats are tucked in.
Just have the one cat - the lovely Lady Sapphire. The housekeeper was there yesterday and got her in. She is headed to my place soon - she thinks she can get in. Thanks for the good thoughts.

My next door neighbor confirms the hills are burning up toward the end of Pickett - near Fleming Winery/residence and Woodbridge.

Woke up today in American Canyon and the smoke is now significant down here. Looking to the north, it’s bleak orange skies. Thoughts go out to all those affected.

It’s in Sonoma too.
Burning from southern Santa Rosa to Warm Springs Road. Kenwood and Oakmont evacuated, part of Skyhawk subdivision burned out.
As of now still east of Hgwy 12.

Just terrible news. Hoping it doesn’t get too much worse before it gets better, and that everyone stays safe.

Ugh.

Many of us were concerned with smoke taint for this vintage and now there's property loss and damage. My heart goes out to everyone in the industry and the residents in the paths of these fires.

I really think this sums it up. Smoke taint would cripple the winery for a vintage but the loss of their property, well, unspeakable losses. Thoughts and prayers for all of my wine friends in the area.
