2015 Zind-Humbrecht Muscat - France, Alsace (10/25/2020)
– popped and poured –
– tasted non-blind over 90 minutes –

NOSE: light orange and petrol aromas; moderately expressive.

BODY: light, pale maize color; medium-light bodied.

TASTE: light; orange blossom; medium acidity; well-made, and quite nice, but nothing thrilling. Probably best to Drink Now. Gut impression score: 87 - 88.

This was a dry muscat?

Yessir. By way of random comparison, I prefer the more feinherb style from Bruno Sorg, which I wish I could locate locally.

Hi Brian,

Have you ever tried Z-H’s Muscat from the Goldert vineyard? That may have a bit more RS.

Posssssibly … I know I’ve tried something from that vineyard, can’t remember if it was a Muscat, however … will have to search in Cellartracker.

ETA: nope. Haven’t had. The Goldert I’ve had was the 1995 Z-H Gewurztraminer.

Zind-Humbrecht’s Muscat Goldert can be excellent and can easily improve for a decade or more.

Agree with Frank.

The Goldert Muscat is one of the more complex, well-balanced white wines that I’ve had. Had about 10 or 11 years of age on it, and was fantastic!
