TN: 08 Dauvissat Forêt

stellar Chablis with endless length and great balance, fruit/acidity/minerals. Great density and a super mouthfeel, just outstanding. I don’t throw a lot of descriptors after a wine but this one is superb.

Lucky man. I really loved the 08 Dauvissats, until a substantial portion pre-moxed. I have one bottle left–les Clos. Pray for me.

(BTW, spelling in France, at least in terms of wine, seems to be pretty fluid. Dauvissat chooses to spell this section of the vineyard “la Forest”.)

Thanks! I have a few of these. Time to crack them.

praying for you and, yes re Forest. I was too lazy to correct autocorrect.

A bottle of 2004 tonight was on the rounder end of Chablis but terrific. My impression of the 2008s is that the vintage style is similar but the wine very good rather than really really good.

I think the 2008’s have more material, more oomph, than the 04’s, although about the time I began to “enjoy” them with a little age was when they all started to fall apart.
