2001 Beringer Alluvium Red, Knights Valley

I don’t really do tasting notes but I thought this wine was worth mentioning because I probably should have consumed it a decade ago.

I found a bottle of this in the back of my cellar. I know that I have consumed at least 2 prior bottles many moons ago and was never really impressed. I opened this up on Saturday night and was legitimately wowed by his. Beautiful bouquet. Only minor tannins. Great cherry/cassis flavors on the palate. Medium bodied and harmonious. Showed no signs of fading over 2 hours in the decanter. Really a beautiful bottle of wine.

Been drinking the 1994 recently…still wonderful, yet one bottle was a leaker and showed more oxed.

I had a couple really 2007’s some years back with similar impression. When I remember how little these used to go for, I’m kind of amazed that these change hands for mid $30’s at my Costco, but everything in the north coast bdx varietal / blend / cab world is up now.
