TN: 2019 Lioco Old Vine White Wine (USA, California, North Coast, Redwood Valley)

  • 2019 Lioco Old Vine White Wine - USA, California, North Coast, Redwood Valley (1/17/2021)
Another nice outing from Lioco. Mouthwatering acidity and notes of key lime pie with some salinity. Mix between Sauv Blanc, Semillon and Chard. It says neutral oak on the label, but to me this had a faint hint of something coconuty and waxy as well, which I would associate with Rhone whites more and maybe American oak.

Lioco always very reliable, good value in the $30-40 range. Some of their PN in that bracket can rival anyone’s, in my opinion. Good stuff! (91 pts.)

Would like to know the vineyard source

The website lists Lolonis Vineyard for the 2019 Old Vine White. I didn’t find the grape varieties on cursory reading.

Supposedly the old-vine Sauvignon Blanc/Semillon planting is from 1942. Colombard and other grapes are intermixed, if I am correct.

Hmmm … haven’t opened any of my Lioco’s in ages. I have really enjoyed their wines.
