TNs: Barossa/Adelaide Hills Producer Michael Hall - seriously fine

Yesterday Michael Hall dropped by to show me some of his wines. An Englishman who worked in the fine jewellery trade, he set out on his wine journey completing vintages for the likes of Domaine Leflaive, Meo-Camuzet, Cullen and Henschke.
His first love is Burgundy and we see this in his wines.
This was an outstanding tasting, the wines all made with a deft touch.

NV Sang de Pigeon Blanc (Barossa and Adelaide hills)
A true field blend featuring Sauvignon, Semillon and Muscadet. Fermented on skins, barrel maturation. Lifted lychee, spice and lemon sherberts. Racy and refined. Quite delicious, soft, aperitif style.

2018 Adelaide Hills Chardonnay (Piccadilly)
High altitude. Gunsmoke, minerality, crystalline white peach and citrics. Deft oak. Real undercurrent of natural acidity. Very fine.
2019 Sang de Pigeon Pinot Noir, Adelaide Hills
His entry level Pinot Noir. Pretty and crisp, petit fruits rouges and some darker cinammon and blackcurrant nuance. Real dimesion for a modestly priced wine.
2017 Eden Valley Syrah
520m elevation in the cooler Eden Valley. Picked in late April. So much perfume and fine white pepper. Florals, rose petals, crushed passionfruit skins. Such fine tannins and mouth perfume. Just a lovely Shiraz and a long way from the cookie cutter Shiraz. Stunning.
2016 Barossa Valley Shiraz, Stonewell Vineyard
This is sterner, darker richer. Dark fruits and earth, some chocolate. Still pretty restrained. Tannins a bit firmer at this stage. Needs time.

Really good wines Kent.
