2019 Weingut Max Ferd. Richter Graacher Himmelreich Riesling Kabinett - Germany, Mosel Saar Ruwer (2/24/2021)
First look at the 2019s from Richter, and it’s a lovely start. Spätlese weight, and definitely fruity sweet, it’s golden apple and white peach on the nose, then supplemented with stony, floral and lime zest tones through the mid-palate. The acidity is well balanced to the sweetness, such that there is no lingering impression of sugar, just ripe fruit and stone. Balanced for aging, but easy to enjoy now.

Night two, and it has slimmed down. It’s more linear, more focused. It tastes more like Kabinett. Very promising for longer term cellaring.
