Deep red with slight bricking. Musk, loam, conifer, mushrooms, cherry preserve, saddle leather and neutral wood. You’ll be disappointed if you’re after fresh fruit. The flavors have settled in to sappy secondary dried cherry, sun dried tomato and light soy umami. Fine balance and acidity with a long graceful midpalate. The tannins are still not quite fully resolved, rubbing and mildly drying on the finish. This is drinking very well now but could certainly go 5 - 10+ more years. In hindsight from the 2010 note, 3 - 5 years would’ve been way too soon. Fun to monitor a wine’s progress over a decade.

Some soft musky reduction with coniferous woodsiness. Slightly high toned black raspberry and cherry. Some loam and a brisk youthfully furry attack with good acidity. Nice persistence. There are woolen edges followed by no shortage of tannins. The fruit stages a comeback on the lengthy finish. Opened it 3 - 5+ too soon but enjoyable to catch a glimpse during its ascent.
