TN: 2016 Giuseppe Rinaldi Barbera d'Alba (Italy, Piedmont, Alba, Barbera d'Alba)

  • 2016 Giuseppe Rinaldi Barbera d’Alba - Italy, Piedmont, Alba, Barbera d’Alba (3/17/2021)
Not much change since my last bottle in November. An understated nose compared to 15 and 17 with cool fruited Barbera, violets, tar, and licorice. It’s mid weighted with a sense of calm and grace. More licorice, tar, spice, florals and snappy crunchy fruit on the palate. Excellent acid balance keeps it fresh and detailed. Some savory notes are starting to develop. This is a graceful, harmonious wine where its constituent parts add to a greater whole rather than taking center stage. Outstanding and my favored style of Barbera. Quite long on the back end. Drinking at peak. 92 (92 pts.)
