TN: 2013 Coche-Dury Meursault

Has some petrol reduction to the nose. It is loaded with sappy orchard fruits and there’s a meatiness to the wine. It has real density and chew and builds through the palate finishing dry and chalky. Still very youthful.

much difference between Jean-François and his son who took over?

J-F’s wines seem to have more of the struck match type of reduction. I’m happy to drink wines made by either of them.

I prefer the Jean Francois wines , less pure , more funky . But I am also happy to drink both of them .
As for the Meursault Villages , I think the wine needs at least 10 to 15 years of bottle age , regardless of the vintage . Peaking around year 15 to 20 .
Your note is spot on , I think .

Thank you for reporting.
I am lucky enough to yearly buy this wine at the domain.
Generally, Raphaël’s wines are less austere, more fruity (less reduction). Pure however.
For Jean-François, I would not say less pure but more protected.

My last Meursault 2010 was really great.

I should open a 2011 with friends next week.
