Half, My Luck

Bought a few halves of aged Bouchard that have good colours. Popped a '63 CC last week with great results. Last night’s '64 Chevalier is close to wine of the year for me thus far.

1964 Bouchard Père et Fils Chevalier-Montrachet, Grand Cru: From half bottle, this was simply spectacular. It had a whiff of smoke, some custard apple and intense white peach fruit. There was some truffled honey and the palate was so expressive and expansive. It had wonderful depth and oozed minerality. The finish was so long and full of all sorts of engaging savoury and fruit tastes.
