W#illiams-Selyem Zin PaperaVnyd/RRV/SonomaCnty (14.8%; www.WilliamsSelyem.com) Healdsburg 2013: Very dark color; strong toasty/Fr.oak intense blackberry/RRV Zin/boysenberry strong dusty/OV classic Papera fairly complex beautiful nose; bit soft very rich/lush intense blackberry/boysenberry/RRV Zin/very spicy quite dusty/OV some toasty/Fr.oak fairly complex flavor w/ some chewey tannins; very long/lingering very strong RRV Zin/blackberry/boysenberry/ripe/quite spicy strong toasty/Fr.oak quite dusty/OV some complex finish w/ some chewey tannins; a beautiful expression of Papere Zin that can still use another 2-5 yrs; much like a Carlisle Papera. $nc (SS)/$55.00

Williams-Selyem GWT LateHrvst VistaVerdeVnyd/SanBenitoCnty (9.3%; RS: 16.9%; SaH: 32.5 Brix) 2019: Dark yellow color; intense lychee/GWT/hair oil/floral slight chalky/earthy very perfumed/aromatic nose; rather soft intense GWT/hair oil/lychee/floral/spicy very sweet rich/lush bit simple flavor; very long/lingering very rich/lush intense GWT/lychee/hair oil/floral very sweet slight chalky finish; huge intense GWT fruit & very sweet & bit primary right now but should age well for 10-20 yrs. $nc (SS)/$40.00/hlf

A wee BloodyPulpit:

  1. It’s been quite awhile since I’ve tried a W-S Zin. In the past, they’ve been on the overripe/late hrvsty side. This one carried the alcohol well and seemed much more balanced than I recall previous ones. Quite a lovely Papera.
