TN: 2012 Copain Chardonnay Laureles Grade (USA, California, Central Coast, Carmel Valley)

  • 2012 Copain Chardonnay Laureles Grade - USA, California, Central Coast, Carmel Valley (5/10/2021)
En magnum. Effectively popped and poured and drunk over two hours. The wine would have greatly benefitted from decanting. Tart acidity, great minerality, lots of citrus and some apple. An outstanding food wine. In this format, it easily has another 10-15 years of great drinking ahead of it. (92 pts.)

I loved that wine and used to bike close to the vineyard. Thanks for the note John!

That was consistently my favorite Copain wine.

Do they still make that in the Ryan Zepaltas era?

Sorry, I don’t know much about Copain. But I’ve had good luck with aged versions of their whites. Their stuff seems a good value that’s made well and ages well.
