This is a wine I can’t imagine anyone not liking. It has gobs of deep, rich, plummy black fruit, silky, fine tannins, lifted freshness, and a complex nose that is sweet toned, with well integrated oak vanillin, as well as herbal and earthy. It is utterly drinkable at 13,5% AVB, each glass beckoning the next, yet also unashamedly hedonistic and seductive. If I had a stash of these I would have trouble deciding whether to drink them all right away or wait on a few. Terrific stuff.
I haven’t tried the wine, but I don’t normally like wine with gobs of anything, nor vanilla…so I doubt I would like it.
You can always add some water!
Jokes aside, I have had my fair share of clumsy, overblown, overripe wines, and this is absolutely not that: it’s sensuous, but svelte. That being said, I am not part of the Robespierre wing of the AFWE…
I’ve had a number of their wines and can’t recall any of them being jammy or overripe. It’s a magnificent property that makes underrated wines and Ports.
