Coupla extremely brief notes from one sitting..

2018 Bedrock Bien Nacido X-Block Syrah: First wine opened. Decanted. Rustic, a bit ungiving, but a nice wine. Wouldn’t hurt to hold a few years. Good bones. Opened up slightly with time, but was never a dog on its back showing its belly. I got a Lagier Meredith vibe out of it, if that makes sense. Wines that are serious and take a little bit of effort and dedication to enjoy fully.

2019 Ridge Evanghelo: More enticing, more immediate. I did not detect overt oak, but secretly wondering if the touch of American Oak is the secret sauce here? This wine was very charming and drank fast and nicely. Great stuff.

Points wise, they were similar, with the Ridge being perhaps a point stronger and more immediately appealing. Bedrock probably a longer drinker.

No comment about your notes, but one on pronunciation:

do we say
Eee-vang-hell-oh
or
Eee-van-jell-o?

2018 Bedrock wines appear to be long distance runners. I’m largely staying away, peeking in on the 2019s, as well as older vintages instead of opening '18s.

Morgan and Chris pronounce it eee-van-jello

Never know in America! [cheers.gif]
