TN: 2018 Prime Cellars Cabernet Sauvignon Coombsville

Well, it wasn’t as bad as I thought.

It had a little fruit-forwardness that made it feel a little fresher. Sure, there’s oak there, and perhaps a little more sweetness than I’d like, but it wasn’t offensive. There were some woodsy and chalky notes. Oaky but not over-oaked. Tannins quite light. Nothing new here really, just not turned up to 11 which is commendable.

But again, it just hammers home how incredibly hard it is to find Cab Sauv’s in the lighter style with no to very light oak influence - they’re like unicorns here in CA. (89 pts.)
