No Renaissance but Carignan is Super

That post about yet another article claiming a Carignane comeback got me thinking…

Tasting at Porter Creek and then drinking a 2015 Sandlands Cali Carignane later in the same evening, I can’t think of many other wines with a full retail price of $28 that check so many boxes.

All of the sandlands versions have been excellent to me, as have the Porter Creek, Tercero, and Princess and the Peasant. I have enjoyed these since the 2014 vintage and would happily reach for one on any occasion. In each case of the four wineries mentioned, I also like the Carignane more than anything else they produce, even though it’s often far from the most expensive.
