Hosting a wine tasting dinner, focus on Tuscany.
Must eliminate two wines, what two wines, of the list below, would you eliminate?
ITALY-Tuscany YEAR, DESIGNATION, QTY, RAT, R/D
Argiano 1996 Solengo, Sangiovese, Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon & Merlot 94 10/98
Badia a Coltibuono 1990 Sangioveto 94 WBG.5
Ciacci Piccolomini d’Aragona 1999 Sant’Antimo Fabius, Syrah 94 10/01
Felsina 2010 Nero di Nubi, Pinot Noir 95 4/17
Monsanto 1985 Riserva, Il Poggio, Chianti Classico 94 6/93
Pieve Santa Restituta 1990 Rennina, Brunello di Montalcino 92 4/96
Poliziano 1997 Asinone, Vino Nobile Di Montepulciano 92 7/00
Uccelliera 1997 BdM 94 10/01
Eliminate them because they’re not as good as the others? And what are all those numbers after the wine?

I suppose I’d leave out the Syrah and Pinot because I like a more unified theme.
If you are going for more diversity, two of the Sangiovese could be dropped.
Guessing that the numbers are a rating from a critic, plus the date rated.

Any consideration to eliminate, based on a tasting of Tuscan grape varietals.
YEAR-Vintage
DESIGNATION-specific bottling
RAT-Rating
R/D-Review date
Assuming the goal is to cover the waterfront, I would eliminate either -
One of the BdM since that is the only category from which you have two wines; or
The pinot noir since there are so relatively few of them in Tuscany compared to the other categories so it’s less “representative.”
