TN: Three Older Zins....(short/boring)

Tried this trio of Zins last night:

  1. Rosenblum Zin GeorgeHendryVnyd/NapaVlly Reserve (13.7%) Alameda 1993: Med.color w/ some browning; quite cedary/pencilly/oldZin/tired faint raspberry/Zin nose; quite tired/dried out/cedary/oldZin flavor; totally dead & gone.

  1. Ridge Zin PaganiRanch/SonomaVlly/Calif (96% Zin/2% PetiteSirah/1% AlicanteBouschet/1% Mataro; 14.2%; bttld: May 07; Plntd: 1896-1922; Drk: 2/07-2/12-2/13: EB/PD) 2005: Med.light color w/ some browning; fairly earthy/dusty/OV slightly funky/sauvage/rustic some vanilla/Ridge oak fairly strong blackberry/Zin/bit ripe/boysenberry/licorice/SonomaVlly peppery fairly complex nose; soft bit alcoholic/hot strong earthy/dusty/OV strong blackberry/Zin/boysenberry/SV peppery/licorice strong Ridge/vanilla/oak rather rustic some complex flavor w/ light bit bitey tannins; very long some vanilla/Ridge oak some SV peppery/blackberry/boysenberry/ripe Zin light cedary/pencilly/oldZin finish w/ light dry/astringent tannins; shows a lot of the rustic/Pagain/sauvage character & still some fruit but clearly on the downside; drink up.

Turley Zin Moore “Earthquake” Vnyd/NapaVlly (16.3%) St.Helena 2004: Med.dark some browning color; very strong toasty/Fr.oak some peppery/blackberry/Zin/bit spicy some cedary/pencilly/old Zin/tired bit herbal/thyme/rosemary some earthy/dusty/OV bit complex nose; soft quite hot/fumey/overripe strong toasty/Fr.oak some blackberry/Zin strong dusty/OV rather tired/dried out astringent flavor w/ light drying tannins; loads of overripe fruit & quite hot/fumey/alcoholic and pretty tired on the palate.
