A few recent TNs (AJ Adam and Sandler)

  • 2019 A.J. Adam Hofberg Riesling Kabinett - Germany, Mosel Saar Ruwer (7/25/2021)
A bit of a sponti funk shortly on opening that blew off quickly in the glass in a few minutes. Quite mineral with peaches, pears and bergamot. On the palate it’s a tad rich, and the acid feels a bit soft, but precise and piquant. It feels just a tad bit jagged at the moment, but I suspect it will blossom into a nice kabinett in 3-5 years’ time. AP: 14 20

  • 2018 Sandler Wine Company Cabernet Sauvignon Lazare Vineyard - USA, California, Napa Valley, Oak Knoll District (7/25/2021)
Dark red and black fruit, cassis alongside some quite prominent and slightly disjointed herbal elements and a menthol note. Slightly toasty oak. High acid and medium plus grippy tannins at the start. With air, it softened up a bit and herbal element became integrated better. I’d give it another 5 years+ in bottle before revisiting.
