TN: 2017 Torbreck ‘The Struie’

1 hr decant
Opaque ruby center, translucent rim
The nose crashes and explodes with acid-laden citrus fruits, GRAPEFRUIT, red fruits galore, licorice…all criss-crossing with frenetic zing
Juicy…juicy, yes…JUICY (!) bright, fresh flavors ring, balancing a hypothetical blend…the heft of an Aussie Shiraz with a lip-smacking, serious, cru Beaujolais
A long, satisfying elegant finish that expands across the palate, eyes sparkle, attention given

I find Torbreck lighter and leaner than other Aussie shiraz and gsm, but still bit too heavy for my palate.

Nice note. Always enjoyed these wines but have not had a Torbreck in years.

I had another bottle of this last night…With its grapefruit elements, this is a dead ringer for a Rosella’s Vnyd syrah, ala Novy or Carlisle. Simply lovely…

Drank another bottle tonight…Given its $37 price tag at my local Costco, this is easily my QPR champ for 2021…Rich, yet elegant…zippy, yet serious…perfumed, long…and SO citrusy/grapefruity/Rosella’s-like.
