TN: 2017 Evesham Wood Pinot Noir Illahe (USA, Oregon, Willamette Valley)

  • 2017 Evesham Wood Pinot Noir Illahe - USA, Oregon, Willamette Valley (7/25/2021)
Day 1: Cloudy color but never means much to me. Fragrant wine with underbrush, rose petals, celery, minerals and unripe raspberries. Nice acidity and this would be food friendly. 90 points
Day 2: As hoped for this improved on day 2. Usually solid Oregon producers do with younger wines. Nice fruit featuring sour raspberries and strawberries. Minerals, pine needles, wafer and earth. Good concentration and medium finish. Lacks acidity hence the 91 point score. 91 points
Day 3: No surprise that this wine has picked up stem on day 3. Evesham Wood Pinot’s need time and at $21.00 a steal of a wine. Nose is more fragrant and palate features spice, rose petals, celery, underbrush and minerals. Very balanced effort and delicious. 92 points
Recommendation: Buy and give it 3 to 5 years. (92 pts.)

I always enjoy their wines and agree they need time. We love stopping at their Salem tasting room and chatting with Chris. He is first rate and one of our must stops in Oregon.
