TN: 2020 Emrich-Schönleber Monzinger Halgans Riesling trocken (Germany, Nahe)

  • 2020 Emrich-Schönleber Monzinger Halgans Riesling trocken - Germany, Nahe (9/19/2021)
A bit of flint smoke on the nose. Mineral and citrus fruit with some pear and starfruit. Fresh and tangy. A balanced wine with a clear start, middle, and finish. There’s fruit, acid, structure, no obvious defects, but also nothing incredibly distinct. Just a well made, and enjoyable crisp, dry riesling. The raw material here is here, but it’s all compacted down, and in need of time to unwind. It’d begging for a few years to settle down, hell even a few months would likely be beneficial. The US folks waiting on their summer hold 2020er are well served being precluded from trying these at this stage.
