Interesting math at Zachy's

Galatrona is one of Italy’s greatest wines and delivers a pinnacle expression of Merlot. Yes, that’s right Merlot! Along with Masseto, Messorio, Redigaffi and l’Aparita, Petrolo delivers exceptional quality and rivals these Tuscan icons without the sticker shock. > To put this in perspective, Massetto commands over $800 per bottle, while Galatrona retails for just $99.99, 1/6th of the price! > It’s the wine that Antonio Galloni once famously stated, “could hold its own in a blind tasting with the finest Pomerols.” Petrolo continues to rack up high praise from critics. James Suckling notes the 2018 Petrolo Galatrona is, “all about purity and complexity.” Suckling is not alone in his praise – Jane Anson of Decanter added, “I love the confidence and complexity of this wine… it is a gorgeous wine and an extremely easy bottle to recommend.”

It is on-sale for $100. In their (very minor) defense, the text more closely refers to the list price of $125.

I saw a recent wine advertised that was 80% Tempranillo, 20% something else and 10% something else. That wine was packed!

It’s expressed in the rarely-used base 8.66.

Still over priced at $100

You can’t take three from two
Two is less than three
So you look to the four in the eights place
Now that’s really four eights
So you make it three eights
Regroup, and you change the eight to eight ones…

The US showed their math ability years ago. A&W had a 1/3 pound burger to challenge McDonalds 1/4 pound burger. The public wasn’t interested in A&W’s 1/3 pound burger as most thought 1/3 pound burger was smaller than 1/4 pound burger because 3 is smaller than 4. Not making this up.
