TN: The Red Electric Slide...

Last night we tried a couple of Berserker Day Red Electric Chards side by side:

2018 Red Electric, Chardonnay, Alpine Lily, Ribbon Ridge - A pretty tangerine/orange nose, with cream, and light mineral and floral notes. Not really reductive or with that matchstick note that so many seem to crave these days, just a Chard on the pretty side, which I like. Very nice on the palate, with a nicely supple texture, but not fat, showing tangy, vibrant tangerine and apple fruit, some cream, with very light spice and oak notes. It has really nice balance, with good acid for an '18, and it’s drinking nicely now and should maintain that for 2-5 years. Probably best for those of you who like your OR Chards with a nod towards Chablis as opposed to Meursault. Approx…90-91.

2018 Red Electric, Chardonnay, Evening Primrose, Ribbon Ridge - A bit shyer on the nose than the Lily, with apple and pear fruit, cream, and a bit more toast and spice, although not too much. Slighty richer on the palate, with pear and apple fruit, spice, toast, and cream. Still nicely balanced, but the fruit seems a little more subdued, and the wine a touch less vibrant. Maybe it’s just a little tight right now, as it picks up complexity on the spicy finish and just feels like it has more to give. For now I like the Lily more, but this could suprise. Approx…88-90.
