A couple of white wines enjoyed as harvest 2021 ends

2020 Sparkman Cellars “As You Wish” Sauvignon blanc Gamache Vineyard Columbia Valley
My friend Linn Scott is the winemaker here and he gave me this bottle. From own rooted vines planted in 1985. Very delicious, everything I love about sauvignon blanc and nothing I don’t. Great pairing with a fat piece of Humboldt Fog and pea shoot salad and these new “olive oil and black pepper” crackers from Mary’s Gone Crackers.

2019 La Marea Albarino Kristy Vineyard Monterey County from I Brand
Admittedly I don’t drink much albarino from anywhere let alone Monterey County but this is very delicious. Minerally and saline, bright, subtly aromatic. Lovely together with my roasted shallot acorn squash soup garnished with crispy bacon and chopped parsley.

Cheers to drinking white wine year round!
Happy fall, berserkers
