TN: 2013 L. Aubry Fils - Champagne "Ivoire et Ebene" (France, Champagne)

Three quick little notes on this wine. First bottle was consumed more than a year and a half ago, but I didn’t write a note at that time. Overall, this Champagne is moving in the right direction and is benefitting from bottle age.

Simultaneously light & rich; seems to be broadening with bottle age; fairly strong mineral on the Nose.

Dry, with lots of mineral. Medium-high acidity. Very much on the austere side, with light fruit. Not oxidative. Not rich. Very nice.

– popped and poured –
– tasted non-blind over approx. 1.5 hrs. –

NOSE: bright; crisp; airy; not oxidative; a touch creamy with a hint of biscuit.

BODY: medium-light bodied.

TASTE: dry, but not bone dry. mostly in the apples part of the fruit spectrum. Continues to improve with age, albeit slowly. Drink or Hold.

Did you buy a six pack?

I do love Aubry. Haven’t been able to get this particular bottling.

I did buy 6. I love this wine, but I don’t see it on a regular basis. That 9899 you posted about recently sounds really interesting, but I’ve never seen that one!

I wonder if the Dualis was a one-off. I have never seen it again, nor any mention of another edition beyond the 9899 blend.
