TNs: a tale of two kabinetts

  • 2019 Koehler-Ruprecht Kallstadter Steinacker Riesling Kabinett - Germany, Pfalz (11/14/2021)
On the nose, candied lime peel and buddha’s hand, and fresh ginger. Deeply flinty and mineral base that alongside some watermint that lends the wine some aromatic weight. A tad rich on the palate and I was left wanting for a tad more acid, but overall an enjoyable kabinett. AP 10 20.

  • 2020 Dönnhoff Niederhäuser Klamm Riesling Kabinett - Germany, Nahe (11/14/2021)
What a contract to the 2019 Koehler-Ruprecht Kallstadter Steinacker kabi drank had alongside it. Fresh, bright citrus top notes of meyer lemon and yuzu zest alongside a ripe tropical passion fruit and pineapple base note and a slate and lemongrass middle note that pokes through here and there. Quite dense and powerful on the palate, but with good acid and tension. Needs a few years to shed some of its baby fat. AP 03 21.
