TNs: 2 Chablis and a CFE

Very pleasant lunch outside on dazzling 30C day.

2019 Fevre Chablis ‘Montmains’ 1er
This does have a touch of exoticism, but also the strict line and length that we crave. Oyster shells and sea spray remind us that we are 100% in Chablis.
2017 Louis Michel Chablis ‘Montee de Tonnerre’ 1er
So composed, rounded and complete. Again a little riper than classical old school Chablis, but it’s just so pure and superbly balanced, making it a terrific drink today with loads of upside.
2008 Trimbach Riesling "Cuvee Frederic Emile"
The cork wasn’t great, soaked down one side. The wine showed a touch of honeyed development in colour and on the palate, with lanolin and citrics, and definitely subtle but present kerosene notes. Lovely acid backbone and drive. Perhaps not the freshest bottle due to the closure, but still a fun drink.

Thanks for taking a look, the last 08 CFE I opened was a backwards son of a bitch.

Certainly bears out my initial assessment of the cork. Having had a number of other vintages of these over the years it was a tad more advanced than I was expecting.

Same with the one I had one late last year. I’ll probably wait until 2025 before trying again!
