TN: 1998 Cape d'Estaing Shiraz Admiral's Reserve

  • 1998 Cape d’Estaing Shiraz Admiral’s Reserve - Australia, South Australia, Fleurieu, Kangaroo Island (1/19/2022)
From magnum. Double decanted four hours before service. Lots of tannins, with raspberry fruit popping out. Dark opaque red color. After a while in the glass, the tannins mellowed out. The wine became very Bordeaux-like.

Drinking extremely well with proper aeration. There’s plenty of life left, at least in this format. Paired extremely well with roast saddle of venison with huckleberry sauce. (93 pts.)
