TN: 1998 Müller-Catoir Mußbacher Eselshaut Rieslaner Auslese (Germany, Pfalz)

A fantastic nose. Honeyed, with some spice, citrus marmalade, florals, with the fruit being stone more than orchard. Expansive and rich on the palate, with a BA textural feel to it with matching acidity that lifts it beautifully conveying a sense of intensity without weight. There’s more of the same fruit, honey, and florals on the palate, with spice, creme brûlée, and brown sugar notes, all coming together effortlessly into a wonderful whole. This has near perfectly balanced RS, fruit, soil and acid. Harmony is the word that comes to mind. It seems like it is in suspended animation since my last delicious bottle over a decade ago. A beautiful wine drinking at peak with plenty of time in hand. Beguiling. (95 pts.)
