TN: 1964 Joseph Drouhin Volnay

The nose is a smoldering pile of Autumnal leaves. The palate and fully resolved, calm and even. It is velvety of texture and has all sorts of decaying plant matter and spice nuance. There is still breezy acidity and the wine is a genuinely good drink, not just an aged curio.

in my limited experience, you are also not just an aged curio.

Nice, Jeremy!
Most of my older burg experinces congregate around the late 70’s early 80’s. When they are on, really nothing like 'em.

Thank you Yaacov. I do feel aged most days.

fortunately not corked.

Have you tried slow-ox?

Just happy that I’m taking on any oxygen at all each morning William.

I’m going to get you a hat made of diam. should clear that up.

These old Drouhin wines can be very impressive. I drank through a case of 1978 Drouhin Chorey-les-Beaunes a few years ago that no one wanted at auction. Nearly every bottle was a true burgundy treasure.

What a treat! Thanks for sharing your experience. champagne.gif
