With a minor dose of bewilderment I can wrap my head around $500, but $5000!?

$500 would have been the typo.

if a sauvignon blanc can be $500, it can just as easily be $5000

The people buying this could not tell the difference between Merry Edwards SB which might be better anyway. The Cab would be way overpriced at that mark.
