TN: 2015 Maison Alex Gambal Chardonnay Bourgogne Blanc (France, Burgundy, Bourgogne Blanc)

Picked this up at my local shop yesterday on a lark, as I’d never tried this producer before.

Pale gold in the glass. Heavy butter & vanilla on the nose, some citrus peeking out behind that. Lively acid and a pronounced dose of lemon in the mouth. After an hour things have calmed down a bit, now citrus fruit and stone/mineral scents sit alongside that butter/vanilla note. Same on the palate, citrus fruits, lemon peel, and a big toasty finish. This may have been better closer to vintage, there are just a couple of elements out of balance for my tastes.
