TN: Two New Dehlinger Chards...(short/boring)

We recently got our new Dehlinger shipment, so I tried these two Chards last night:

  1. Dehlinger Chard Estate/RRV/SonomaCnty (14.2%; U) 2019: Light gold color; quite fragrant melony/Chard/almondy/bit honeyed light toasty/oak pretty classic RRV Chard very attractive nose; fairly tart/tangy ripe/melony/Chard some toastyu/oak rather rich lush lovely flavor; very long/lingering ripe/lush/melony/Chard some toasty/Fr.oak lightly tart finish; a pretty classic RRV Chard w/ more richness/ripeness & more oak. $45.00

  1. Dehlinger Chard GarboRanch/RRV/SonomaCnty (14.3%) 2020: Med.light gold color; less ripe/Melony/Chard bit more mineral/chalky/perfumed talc bit more high-toned Chard fruity almost Riesling-like more interesting/complex bit quieter nose; fairly tart/tangylighter some ripe/melony/Chard some minerally/stony/perfumed talc bit leaner/less ripe lighter toasty/Fr.oak very attractive flavor; very long/lingering ripe/melong/Chard some mineral/perfumed talc finish; not as ripe & lush but a bit more structured & more interesting. $30.00

A wee BloodyPulpit:

  1. BlairSwartz had been on the Dehlinger mailing list from the late '70’s, so gets a sizable allocation. His daughter, Stacey, now living in LosAlamos, has been sharing his allocation with us, has her late Dad had done for many yrs.
The GarboRanch is a relatively new addition to the Dehlinger lineup. It comes from an adjacent ranch they recently purchased.
Both of these Chards were clearly cut from the same cloth. I preferred the Garbo as showing a bit more mineral & a bit more interesting. Must be that terroir thing that wine geeks babble on about.
