TN: 2012 Andreas&Steffen Rings & Thomas Pfaffmann Spätburgunder Mon(t) Dieu

Note: rather a TN for german members of this board, as I don’t think any bottles went outside Germany. But I know that german winelovers are watching Wineberserkers.

2012 Andreas&Steffen Rings & Thomas Pfaffmann Spätburgunder Mon(t) Dieu

This Spätburgunder „Mont Dieu“ or „Mountain of God“ is a joint venture between Thomas Pfaffmann „Wageck“ and Andy&Steffen „Rings“.
They wanted to make a pure and „unvarnished“ Spätburgunder based on the best vineyards of both estates, Gottesacker and Goldberg. A very small production.

Not filtered, therefore quite slurry in the glass. Flavors of strawberry, cherries, floral notes and earthy on the palate. In addition shows a good finesse and Feinheit in general. Overall a Black Forest Gateau came to my mind. Anyway, very unique in the world of german Spätburgunder and great achievement by both estates. We all enjoyed it and was even better on day 2. So, good years ahead. CHAPEAU

Last but not least, winner of the “BerlinSpätburgunderCup”
