An unusual large bottle of Bollinger

Purchased yesterday from a dealer friend. A fraction larger than a double magnum at 3.076 liters or 104 fluid ounces. Obviously made for the British market. Incredibly heavy.

Anybody come across anything like this, and better still tasted the wine?

Never seen anything that size, but this could be an incredible bottle given the vintage and format if it was properly stored. Well-stored bottles of '64 DP can be amazing.

Extra Quality! I always ask for Extra Quality in my wines.

I’ve had mags of the NV from this era…if well stored should be legendary. Best of luck…

Just tasted a bottle of 1964 Veuve Cliquot yesterday. It’s a style of wine that is no longer made, with its probably 10-12 g/L of dosage. For my palate, too far gone, with lots of mushroom and browned Maillard/umami notes. I’d expect a jero (ish) to show much fresher.

Color and fill look good, and I do know the provenance at least for the last thirty five years, which is impeccable. I am going to open it at an event next year, with back up bottles just in case.
