2005 Heitz Cellars Martha's Vineyard

Bottled in June of 2009, this wine is showing very well.

A bouquet of dark cherry, plum, and cassis. The nose follows to the palate where it is joined by some nice baking spices. Medium-full bodied, with a lush, long and lingering finish.

Served alongside a gorgeous NY Sirloin purchased at farmer’s market from the farm who raised the animal. Some porcini/truffle risotto and roasted sweet asparagus finished off a terrific meal.

This gets the “Merrill wishes she had made this wine” designation.

sweet !

Thanks for the note! Every time I have a bottle of Martha’s I wish I had more in the basement than I do. I have a few of the ‘05, it’s my oldest’s birth year. Looking forward to trying them with him!

Every year at their big gala the wine distributor in town would pour freely all their top stuff. I’d start at Salon and always got a few sips of the latest Marthas poured by Joe himself. Great stuff.
