TN: A White & A Rose for DinDin....(short/boring)

Had these two for dinner last night:

  1. Jeanne D’Arc Calif WW (11.7%; www.FolkMachine.com) The Golk Machine/SantaRosa 2021: Light gold rather hazy/cloudy color; rather earthy/appley light pear/CB very slight phenolic/VM rather simple/fruity nose; bit soft some tangy/metallic slight resiny/VM/phenolic some CB/pear/apple rather simple/bland flavor; med.short bit soft slight tangy/metallic light phenolic/skin-contact light CB/pear finish; a lightweight singularly-uninteresting CB w/ very slight VM character; a bit too bland/dull for my tastes. $20.50 (KK)

  1. Maison Philippe Viallet Savoie Rose Ad’OP: Vin de Savoie (12%; T.Elenteny Imports/NY)Philippe Viallet 2021: Rather pale salmon color; very pretty strongly floral/Alpine white flowers/edelweiss some Alpine strawberries slight earthy lovely perfumed nose; fairly tart/tangy/bit metallic strong floral/Alpine white flowers/Alpine strawberries slight earthy/mineral really lovely flavor; very long/lingering fairly tart/tangy light earthy/mineral/metallic strong floral/Alpine flowers lovely finish; a lovely classic Alpine/Savoie rose w/ lots of perfume at a very fair price. $19.00 (SFW&S)

More trickergit from TheBloodyPulpit:

  1. The FolkMachine is a skin-contact white made from CheninBlanc from MerrittIsland in the Delta region. It’s another brand, designed for more esoteric wines, from Kenny Likitprakong of HoboWines. He also has the Craft wines line as well. He is regarded as a natural winemaker, but I’ve not found any natty/unclean character in any of them. Just rather bland wines thus far.

  1. I was pretty impressed by the Savoie Rose. Made entirely from the Gamay grape. It showed a lot of high-toned Alpine character you don’t normally get from a Gamay Rose.
