TN: 2020 Emrich-Schönleber Monzinger Halgans Riesling trocken (Germany, Nahe)

Served a bit too cold on purpose, I was drinking this on a warm day and I enjoy watching the evolution as the wine warms. Initially, this came across as akin to a greyhound cocktail. Grapefruit with a pronounced salty edge, this was pretty refreshing if atypical in this over chilled state. As it warmed, the core sweetened up, the saltiness receded, and we are seeing yet another very nice beverage from Emrich-Schonleber. The acidity also felt more pronounced as it warmed, and just a touch overbearing, but nothing a year or three won’t fix. Very good now, excellent not to far off. (91 pts.)
