TN: 2017 Olivier Merlin Pouilly-Fuissé Sur la Roche

  • 2017 Olivier Merlin Pouilly-Fuissé Sur la Roche - France, Burgundy, Mâconnais, Pouilly-Fuissé (8/4/2022)
Lemon curd, chalk, white flowers, and a little nuttiness son the nose. On the palate, it’s a wine of synergistic contrasts. Midweighted with a broad palate presence and terrific cut. Outstanding dry extract and depth coupled with focus. Toothsome and intense with terrific balance and gentle touch. There’s plenty of soil and acid to please any rock head, but its not just that. Sap and flesh effortlessly cover the palate without any heaviness, adding layers to the wine’s geologic backbone. Finishes clean and mouthwatering, yet simultaneously long. Deftly subtle wood adds to the whole. A wine where everything comes together into a pretty seamless, effortless whole. This has come together since my last bottle a year ago. In a great spot with time in hand. 94 (94 pts.)
