Grabbed a bottle of Patricia Green Reserve Pinot at Pike's Place on my way to hang out with my daughter, SIL and 4 day old grandson. SIL grilled up some great swordfish along with a salad of corn, heirloom cherry tomatoes, peaches and spinach all grilled as well. The wine was so happily drinkable and light yet interesting as a companion.

'99 Jean et Gilles LaFouge Meursaul.

Speaking of bottle variation, this probably had a variation- it was perhaps the best white burg we had to date (or pretty sure it was up there at the top). The restaurant chef and waiter also enjoyed. The waiter said that it was certainly his best white wine (not just burg), with a long finish. And you could tell he was not 'blofing' (and we've been there before with some wines). The previous bottle was very good, but not THAT good. Detailed TN will follow

Birthday dinner Sat night:

2005 Roulot Meursault Les Meix Chavaux - still young, serious citrus fruits
1973 LdH Tonodna GR x2 - a delight; both btls were singing
2000 Dujac CdlR - nice but not upper echelon Dujac
2006 Rayas CdP Pignan Reserve - weird flaw that caused the finish to be bitter and clipped

We were still working on bottles of 2014 Clos Roche Blanche Pif and 1997 Maximin Grunhauser Herrenberg Spatlese. Both still going strong after nearly a week in the fridge.
Ripe fruit isn't necessarily a flaw.

This wine is in a great place right now. The 2013 - as is typical for my wines at 1 year from bottling - is disjointed and not strutting any stuff. Enjoyable, but I would leave it for now. Grab the 2009, 2011, 2012.

Last night opened a 2011 Donnhoff Oberhäuser Brücke Spätlese that was just so awesome! I love this wine! Then we opened a 2012 Terre Nere Santo Spirito that was stunning but needed a lot of air. Just started opening up after about 2 hours in the decanter.

Had a mental picture of you grabbing the bottle and corkscrew and slugging wine from the bottle while driving down the freeway. Of course, I know you wouldn't do such a thing.

It was quite popular but not my favorite Scherrer. I do like them best with 10+ years of age, but the young grapey ones are pretty good too. It's not an overblown style of Zin.
