LEROY Collection 2013 ..... [shock.gif]

I bought now and then some bottles from the usual Leroy offer together with a friend - sharing a 6-case minimizes the costs.
He now showed me the newes offer - attention: MAISON LEROY (the negociant, not the Domaine!)

I MEAN: a 1973 (!) Santenots 9400.00,
a Savigny-lès-Beaune Village 1953 5000.00 !!! [shock.gif] - with taxes close to 6000 !!!

How much will a Montrachet 1973, a Chambertin and Musigny 1953 be???

Who is going to buy these [scratch.gif] - what should they be at a retailer?
Are there enough idiots around worldwide?

Is Mme.Bize going gaga ?

All those people who turn 30, 40 or 60… have plenty of cash but much less sense… I guess.

Or April’s fool…

Is that per bottle? Maybe an April 1st joke?

Per bottle ! - and the letter is dated March 28 !

A 1953 Savigny Hospices cuvee Arthur Girard was recently offered here at about £11,000 per bottle inclusive of taxes. It must be fabulous.
On the other hand, purchase is entirely optional!

Those seem like fairly reasonable 12 bottle OWC case prices to me. Oh wait…

back up the truck–and run her over!

In addition to root and fruit days perhaps there are money days ?

Are retailers who want the regular current releases forced to take these releases at these prices? If so, it makes the price of entry very high for importers, distributors and retailers of Leroy…

Sometimes I feel that many Napa cab producers who kept raising prices would rather sell 50% at double the price…with these offerings it seems like she would rather sell 10% at 10x the price…

There you go DG. Then you have a large inventory with a very high nominal value !

Supply and demand. The market will speak. Is the offer printed in Chinese?

Now I feel stupid arguing about a $75 fee for wine doctor…

But seriously, if she is selling these at those prices, the middle class is truly dead.

Las time I saw they did this sort of offer (2009 IIRC) much of the expensive stuff at places I saw is still sitting on shelves (well, in cabinets anyway), and they were much cheaper than these (although still ridiculously expensive).

If these don’t go to Chinese (or some such similar crazy buyers), I can’t really see anyone else will be buying them.
