TN: 2010 Cornalin - Claudy Clavien - Carmin des Pierres

A bunch of swiss wines to go through and the first one I hit is this…

2010 - Claudy Clavien - Carmin des Pierres - Cornalin - AOC Valais

An unusual grape, for sure. This wine from the Valais really got me, though. In short: a brilliant wine.
It’s a dark, deep red wine. The nose exudes spice, cloves, blackberries and a little dust, earthy edge. The palate is along those lines with powerful fruit and great concentration. It’s most definitely a forward, “here I am!” wine, but at the same time the power is delivered with relative elegance, all wrapped in a quite silky texture… quietly taking you through an earthy, “cocoa dust” finish until you can’t wait and serve yourself another glass. While it does not have an amazing complexity, this is a flat out brilliant wine. And I can’t help but thinking that I drank it way too young… and that I now need to get more of it.

Cheers
