Luxurywine (Spanish retailer, www.luxurywine.es): caveat emptor

I purchased a bottle of 1989 La Tache from this retailer. The listing made no mention of any bottle issues. I asked about the condition and was told it was perfect, and was sent two photos showing a high fill.

Delivery showed a 5 mm+ depressed cork. The seller told me that that was too bad and they do not accept returns.

Do not buy from this retailer - they are a fraud.

Did you pay with credit card? If so, that might enable a charge-back refund, especially if you have kept all documentation and can forward to your credit card company.

My suggestion also is to post this in Wine Talk. Thank you.

No, many shops in Europe only accept bank transfers. It’s annoying. But it isn’t unusual in Europe.

Are you Robert Haas the importer?

It is horrific bait and switch; you are right to warn us, as you are unlikely to get any legal remedy. Could you perhaps post a side by side picture of the photo they e mailed and the actual bottle.

Most new European vendors will not accept US credit cards so that they can avoid chargebacks. Looks like luxury wines used it to defraud.

Mark,

Guess not. pileon

Defrauding the deceased is quite despicable.
