Was more a reflection that I could have picked up several more, but sent pics to let friends know to get them instead ;). At $399, I’m not a buyer.

I just opened up a bottle of Remus V. I think this is incredible. Immediately in the market for a backup bottle.
Opened this with some forum friends (Mark Ye, Jim Brennan) and it lived up to the hype, which is pretty rare on boards like this.

Great nose and the finish went on for days. At 100 proof, it landed like a barrel proof without the oak baggage you'd get in a Stagg Jr.

Am now kicking myself in the ass for sending pictures of bottles to friends instead of buying them myself.
Glad you enjoyed it as well. Later that afternoon, I went back to my local liquor store for a backup and picked up their last bottle. When I got back home my wife was commenting on how I had the biggest smile on my face haha. But wow, at $399?! that's crazy. I fortunately got it at retail.

Interesting comp to Stagg Jr and can see where you're coming from on that. Haven't reached for my Stagg Jr in awhile since I'm scared I'll never find one at a reasonble price again and want to save it for when have company over for some whiskey tasting.

Caskers had it for $105 but now it's out of stock. I found out it's supposed to be here still in Tampa locally around $100. If you want a bottle shoot me a pm and I'll check around this weekend.

Do you see a similarity to Blanton's, perhaps even better?
“To study the Buddha Way is to study the self. To study the self is to forget the self. To forget the self is to be actualized by myriad things. When actualized by myriad things, your body and mind as well as the bodies and minds of others drop away. No trace of enlightenment remains, and this no-trace continues endlessly.”

You’re right Michael, definitely similar in flavor profile but the 1910 ramps up the intensity a couple notches. It’s just really good.I have blended equal parts of the 1920 and 1910 with really great results.🥃

Robert- are you still looking for a bottle ? It's in Tampa for $100. Send me an email via WB instead of PM if you do.

The Remus is really good. Our group loved it. The nose is just a bunch of caramel nuttiness and it follows with a ton of flavor. Well worth the price point IMO.

Hey Fred thanks so much for reaching out with the offer. I think I have a lead on a local bottle, which is why a deleted my post. If it falls through (possible) I will be in touch, thanks again. I continue to hear great notes on the Remus V

I've had it, and it's pretty good, but not as great as regular WFE Rye of that age range. It's a bit on the sweet side, if that's your thing. You are correct that, if you can find one at retail pricing, it's a relatively good deal for Willett.

Purchased a bottle of Stagg Jr. today in NYC that did not have a front label stating the ABV or proof so I decided to call Buffalo Trace to get more information.

I gave the person I spoke to the Lot Code and he indicated it was bottled in May 2021, part of Batch 16 and had a proof of 135.5 and is the highest ABV Stagg Jr. ever made.

However, when I did some research Buffalo Trace's website states Batch 16 is 130.9 Proof so I am confused because I thought each batch had a consistent ABV since it's a blend of bourbons.

Does anyone here know a bit more about Stagg Jr. and can explain, encountered a similar situation or have suggestion on how to research this bottle further?

That would be a great one to try. I’ve seen secondary prices from I think 850-1500. I don’t swim in those pools so I like it when I find a 4 🌹 BS on the shelf somewhere. Like Met Mkt.

I look at Costco a bunch and I’ve never really seen anything super compelling there. But I know they get a few bottles of the good stuff. You pretty much have to already be in the store when they stock it to get it. Odds are I’ll be there at the right time at some point.

Never sniffed a bottle here in NJ. Secondary price or otherwise. Asked around a lot when it was supposed to hit and just got a lot of looks and shrugs.

Hope a few Berserkers were able to find some in the wild

The bottles I've had don't come close to Lot B.

Just got a new bottle at retail pricing. I don't have any Lot B left but will try it blind against a few other 12 y/0.

I usually prefer the WA over the 12.

Just got a new bottle at retail pricing. I don't have any Lot B left but will try it blind against a few other 12 y/0.

I usually prefer the WA over the 12.

What’s overpaid? It’s basically lot b and a lot cheaper.
I have quite a few cases of 12 and a few bottles of lot b but sold most of my Lot B because it tasted the same to me.

I guess. Weller 12 was $20 a bottle until like 3 years ago. I have cases of blantons and regular ER and BT too, just because it’s what I like to drink. Only the W12 and blantons have gone up in price.

Trust me, we used to get W12 1.75L to sell for years...they were $37 wholesale. Same days we got ETL private barrels.

Oh, how times have changed.

I miss the days not that long ago when blantons was on the shelf in every store and 3 or 4 different bottles of eh Taylor were just sitting there as well. Top shelf, but just sitting there….

I had a college buddy who used to buy Old Rip Van Winkle by the case when he was going to have a party.

Yup, not only the plentiful Weller 12, I remember buying Eagle Rare 17 off the shelf at Bevmo and passing on Pappy 23 because it was $299! Oh my, what regrets!

Just got notified that I won the raffle for a bottle of Pappy 12. Now to decide whether to drink it or sell it for a profit. ;)

Just kidding. I am going to drink it.

Dig it. Enjoy!
Is this the type of raffle where you won the privilege of buying at MSRP or an outright win on a charity raffle?

Technically not "Pappy" I guess but that is more semantics as they all are BT. Also, thought someone mentioned the Pappy 12 is essentially Weller 12.
Cheers,
Tony

Yeah, it's MSRP, but at least not crazy price. I knew about the similarity to Weller 12, but I have a hard time getting Weller 12, so it's all good!
