WARNING: Le Cognac

A word of warning concerning the French Spirits seller called Le Cognac.
I ordered a bottle of 1976 Normandin-Mercier Cognac on Feb 26th for $275, which I considered a good price.
They claimed it was “in stock”.
They charged my credit card on March 1st.
I noticed that I had not received a confirmation email, so I sent an email requesting the status of my order. No answer.
I sent them two other emails over the next three days. No answer.
Finally I sent them an email which I translated to French (just in case). No answer.

I contacted my credit card and requested they cancel the order.
They said the payment would be reversed pending an investigation.

On March 13th, I received an email from Le Cognac as follows:

Dear Sir,
I am very sorry but unfortunately the Cognac you ordered:
Normandin-Mercier - Vintage -1976-
is no longer available in this batch.
The new batch, in a more upscale packaging, is available but its cost significantly higher: 386.00 USD, instead of 237.66.
Would you like to order the new batch, and pay the difference, or do you prefer to cancel the order and get a refund?
Thank you in advance for your reply.
Kind regards,
Chantal F Martell

I told them to refund my money immediately and the next day they did credit my card.
At worst, a case of bait and switch.
At best, incompetence and poor customer service.

From this experience, I cannot recommend this company.

TTT

There was only one barrel of that 76 petite champagne afaik.

Anyways, vintry is the cheapest I’ve seen it at ~299
