Kujira Ryukyu 20 Year Old

Anyone had any experience with Kujira Ryukyu 20 Year Old?

It’s currently on close out at a local liquor store for under $200 which is much cheaper than anywhere else that I can see but also still quite expensive to take a chance on. If no-one has experience with this particular bottle, the younger bottlings? Or just rice whisky in general?

I don’t personally think it’s worth the price of wholesale in the states. Rice whisky is typically really rough and for me has never resulted in anything all that complex. Unsure if this is just down to the lack of flavors that are derived from rice in fermentation/distillation or if the average distiller of these products is making some lackluster cuts. I’ve tasted a number of these and I don’t consider them bad, but I don’t think the price for any of them feels anywhere near right. I’d try your darndest to get a taste from a local bar or from someone online that is parting with samples before splurging on a bottle of any rice whisky.
